James L Mayo, MD, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, specializing in microsurgery reconstruction of the breast, head and neck, and extremities, as well as general reconstruction. Dr Mayo received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Louisiana State University followed by a reconstructive microsurgery fellowship at New York University. With a rich background in complex reconstruction, Dr Mayo specialized in all types of free flap breast reconstruction, including the abdominally based DIEP flap as well as thigh-based and gluteal free flaps.
